UPMC Presbyterian, a Level 1 Trauma Center and Magnet-designated hospital is seeking a full-time Clinical Education Specialist to join their Nursing Education team.About the Position:The Clinical Education Specialist at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital is a leadership role focusing on designing, implementing, and evaluating education and training programs for nursing team members, interprofessional teams, and support personnel. The Clinical Education Specialist ensures that education aligns with evidence-based practices, regulatory standards, and UPMC’s mission to serve our communities by providing outstanding patient care and shape tomorrow’s health system through clinical and technological innovation, research, and education.The role emphasizes fostering clinical excellence through competency development, professional growth, and mentoring, while supporting the unique challenges and specialized needs in an acute care environment. Medical- Surgical, leadership/education experience, and professional nursing certification are preferred.Shifts/Hours:This position will work primarily daylight and weekday shifts with the flexibility to have access to the night and weekend staff.Hours are subject to change based on business needs.Responsibilities:

Lead quality improvement initiatives within the department or practice area, using research and evidence-based practices to enhance clinical care and drive positive outcomes.

Foster a culture of continuous learning and improvement by mentoring staff on evidence-based practice, research activities, and best practices.

Take a leadership role in hospital-wide projects, bringing creative solutions to complex challenges and facilitating cross-functional collaboration.

Provide leadership for staff professional development and retention efforts, while also contributing to clinical specialty courses and educational standards.

Build strong relationships both within the department and across the organization through transparent communication, trust, and effective team-building.

3 years of clinical experience required

MSN or Masters in a related field is required

DNP is required if holding a Masters in a related field

BSN is required

Relevant teaching experience required

Leadership and project management experience is preferred

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:

Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)

CPR is required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire.

Registered Nurse (RN)

Current licensure either in the state where the facility is located or, if the facility is in a state covered by the multistate Nursing Licensure Compact (NLC) agreement, a multistate license issued by a participating NLC state. Hires and current employees working on an out-of-state NLC license who later change their residency to the state where the facility is also located will have 60 days upon changing their residency to apply for licensure within that state.
